I get asked this question by many clients and it isn’t always a simple answer because there are definite benefits to both.  Either way you go, it is still an investment in both money and time.  Let’s break down the benefits of both types of sessions as I offer them so you can decide which is right for you.

Mini vs Full Photo Session, Which is right for your family? With image of family at Sully Historic Site in Northern Virginia

Mini Photo Session Benefits

  • 15 Minute session duration
  • Specific location
  • Private Online gallery with 20 professionally edited images or more
  • 5 Hi-resolution digital image downloads included with session cost
  • Option to purchase more digitals and/or prints from your private online gallery
  • 2 week max lead time to receive your gallery

As you can see from the above the mini-session is good for families that are limited on-time but still want beautiful family photos (can you say fitting into the crazy fall sports schedule!).  Just as I do with my full sessions, I capture images of the family together and individual photos.  These sessions are quick but I pack a ton of fun into the 15 minutes to make sure everyone is looking their best in the final product.

Full Photo Session Benefits

  • 45 minute session duration
  • You choose the location (I can certainly help!)
  • Private online gallery with 40 professionally edited images or more
  • 10 Hi-resolution digital image downloads included with session cost
  • Option to purchase more digitals and/or prints from your private online gallery
  • 3 week max lead time to receive your gallery

A full session is more for the family that wants to be super relaxed and not pressured.  This is also a great session if your kids have a hard time warming up to strangers (I certainly won’t be a stranger by the end though!).  During a full session we can play games with the kids to capture their unique personalities.  This type of session also affords you the ability to have your photos taken where you want.  A full session is a great way to unplug and really enjoy family time.

Either session you choose, you will be walking out with smiles and some wonderful family photos that you will cherish forever.  The mini-session is a great way to fit that into a busy schedule.  The full session is a great way to personalize the experience for your family.  I hope this has helped you decide, but please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more questions.  You can find me on Facebook and on Instagram or just drop me an email:  rebecca@novaportraits.com
